Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous
I'm a bit late on quite a few movie ratings for films I've seen the past few months, and this is the beginning of 7 reviews I am going to try to go through today. This first film I watched the same day as The Pacifier that I reviewed a while back (on 03/27/2005), and I saw this one also as Coral Ridge Mall for the 6:50pm showing on March 27 2005.
I have not seen the first Miss Congeniality to have a basis to draw for comparison, which could be good or could be bad however you want to look at it. The main star of the film is the ever cute and endearing Sandra Bullock as FBI agent Gracie Hart. She is so well-known now that she can't go on regular FBI stings without people asking for her autograph, so she is given the task to become the new "face" of the FBI.
The general plot of the film seems to be going back to mentioning stuff from the first movie that happened while introducing a new partner for Gracie. They somehow end up in Las Vegas, which seems designed to introduce an outrageous outfit along with a pirate ship. The laughs were few and far between, and no-one besides Sandra Bullock could pull off even making the film halfway okay to sit through otherwise.
I was bored to death in the movie and didn't find it funny at all, so giving this film a crummy rating. It is better than the worst film I've seen this year (Boogeyman), but deserves the second-last slot in the hit parade for the year so far.
